Notice for Customers Entering Japan

Recently, there has been an increasing number of cases where customers entering Japan
are unable to rent a car because their passports do not have an entry stamp.

When using the automated immigration gate, no stamp is placed in the passport,
making it impossible to verify the validity of the International Driving Permit (IDP),
and therefore the rental car cannot be provided.

Car rental companies in Japan accept only the entry stamp or the entry permit sticker
as valid proof when checking IDP validity.

Therefore, even if you use the automated gate when entering Japan,
please make sure to ask the immigration officer to place an entry stamp in your passport.
